It’s official. As the photo above shows, Vigilant was nestled snugly to bed yesterday under the watchful eye of her winter guardian – Ned Kaiser (Mattapoisett Boat Yard).
Sadly, the time flew by, but it was a most incredible season that included first time trips to Nantucket, Montauk, Watch Hill, The West End of Newport, and our first overnights at Edgartown and Sandwich.
As always, I shot a lot of interesting video over the last 2 months and put together an End of Summer 2018 MBB Video set to Don Henley’s classic Boys of Summer.
At the end of the video, there is also a quick bonus video of Ned and Brownell putting Vigilant in for her long winter nap.
It was quite cool watching Brownell in action again. For years, it was an end of the season tradition for us to break down my father’s C&C 25 – The Banana Split and Pearson 35 – Aquarius then have Brownell set her in his yard on Peases Point.
One of the wonderful things about Buzzards Bay is how things always go full circle. I suspect my grand kids will say the same thing one day.
End of Summer MBB Video
I will still be reporting over the winter. In fact, I may do one more commemorative piece dedicated to all the people who made 2018 such a wonderful summer. I also have dozens of marina, restaurant, and destination reports to catch up on.
We leave for the desert of Southern California tonight. Right now I plan to launch Vigilant for the 2019 season on April 24!
Peace be with you…
