Spread the love

I love an eclectic brunch. It’s not just the bloody before noon…

but also the unique breakfast dishes.

We were planning to leave Plymouth after Sunday Brunch, and I was thinking about Dillon’s Local because it’s always been great. I went to their website and discovered that the brunch menu was full of interesting dishes but rather limited when it came to the more pedestrian fare.

I saw a couple of items I could go for, but Mrs. Horne isn’t a big fan of breakfast, and knowing she’d not be happy with these options, I stopped by to see if they offered other menu items during brunch.

The Full Brunch Menu

It turns out that Dillon’s also offers quite a few items from their regular menu during Sunday Brunch.

The Food

When I spotted Shepherd’s Pie, I knew we’d be eating brunch at Dillon’s Local – it’s one of Mrs. Horne’s favorites!

As Shepherd’s Pies go, this one sticks closely to tradition. It’s got a well-seasoned ground beef foundation and homemade mashed on top. The only potentially eclectic departure comes in the veggie layer, which included carrots along with the traditional corn.

My grandkids went straight for the sweetest dish on the menu – Belgium Waffles.

They were light, crispy, and perfectly accompanied by pure maple syrup and homemade whipped cream.

Although not disappointing, Brian’s Breakfast Burrito was purely pedestrian.

Brian does live in Southern California, where Burritos are more of an art form, but I think some sort of secret sauce or melted cheese might have elevated this dish to the level one might expect from Dillion’s Local.

As a side note, the potatoes are not any sort of hash brown. They’re basically little cubed French Fries.

Natalie ordered the first eclectic dish – Root Vegetable Hash.

This is a great savory breakfast dish for a Vegetarian, but it was very “Sweet Potato Forward.” By the way, Natalie deleted the toast “platform.”

Speaking of savory breakfast dishes, I went for the Portuguese Hash.

This was a Home Run. The combination of Chorizo and Linguica delivered a true Iberian Flavor Bomb. The Grilled Sourdough platform was tasty but a little tough. If I had it to do over, I might just delete the Sourdough and get regular toast on the side.

In summary, Dillion’s Local may well serve the best Sunday Brunch in Plymouth – lots of strong flavors, decent portions, and not too expensive.
