Five years ago, I reported on the closest thing to a restaurant on Cuttyhunk – the Fishing Club.
It’s a private club for fishing enthusiasts that offers eight rooms and a three-bedroom apartment for outside guests.
Everything about Cutttyhunk is iconic, but breakfast at The Fishing Club must be near the top of the list.
It’s a 12-minute stroll from the Town Wharf, with a gentle uphill walk as you approach the restaurant.

The food is excellent, the service is cheerful and helpful, and the views of Vineyard Sound are spectacular.

Back in 2019, the Fishing Club was only open on Sunday mornings for outside guests, but it now serves breakfast every day in July and August.

The Menu
Like everywhere, the prices have gone up since 2019. The Fishing Club has always served a wide variety of dishes, but I found more dishes I wanted on the 2024 Menu.

If you arrive at 9:30 on a weekend morning, you may have to wait 30-40 minutes for a table. Last Sunday, we arrived at 8:30 and got a fantastic table with views of Vineyard Sound and Gay Head.

The Food
The first few times we ate at the Fishing Club, the food was just okay – good enough with the views, but far from memorable.
This year was different; we all enjoyed exceptional breakfast meals…

The Cuttyhunk Fishing Club

Bacon, Sausage, Ham, Onions, and Peppers
The Cuttyhunk Fishing Club

Home Fries topped with Hash, Eggs, Cheddar, and Scallions
The Cuttyhunk Fishing Club

Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Chocolate Syrup,
topped with Whipped Cream

Not only were the dishes more creative and flavorful, but the portions were more than ample.
Credit Cards Now Accepted!
In 2019, Cuttyhunk was a cash-only economy, but no more. The Fishing Club takes major credit cards, as do some of the retail food outlets on the wharf.

Despite the dearth of restaurants on Cuttyhunk, it’s possible to create a 24-hour culinary experience with a Lobster Bake on the Wharf Lawn for dinner, followed by breakfast at The Fishing Club.
