I want to thank all of you who generously donated to the rebuilding of Mattapoisett Boatyard following the fire on August 19, 2022.
We want to thank especially those that came from people who never set foot in Mattapoisett❤️

Art, Dave, and Ned could have easily sold the land or just limped along with a couple of Quonset huts, but they didn’t. They understood how important the Boatyard was to the community and went all-in to create one of the finest facilities in New England.

On Saturday, the town turned out for the dedication ceremony and a tour of the new building.

The garage is magnificent with plenty of room for very large boats…

The main floor houses the shop and a very impressive ship’s store.

The Mattapoisett Yacht Club
MBY also housed the Mattapoisett Yacht Club in the attic above the shop where the fire started.
As impressive as the new Boatyard building is, the new Yacht Club blew me away.

I was also surprised to learn that my childhood friend from Pt. Connett – Bob Warren, is the Commodore!

It was an incredible day and and an awesome start to the next chapter in the life of this special Boatyard.
In case you forgot, here is the video of the fire and the town’s effort to contribute to the rebuilding.
And yes, it wasn’t done in 2023, but some things are worth the wait!

Thanks for sharing, Dave. What an awesome story and transformation . The MBY is bigger and better than ever. Best of luck in the years to come.
I’m one of those who is not from the area but wanted to help and I did. It breaks my heart to think that as a result of rebuilding and saving their business, honest hardworking people may still be deep in debt for years to come. So, wondering how big the gap between insurance proceeds and the 148K donated was. Would be willing to donate again if would help. Thanks for sharing and praying for the long-term success of MBY. Ed
That’s a great thought. Yes, the gap was seven digits, but both the Boatyard and the marina (Brandt Cove) are both booming.
Ned is running for the town Selectman!
