Up until Amazing Grace, Mattapoisett Bostyard always detailed our boats as part of commissioning.
Amazing Grace is stored and commissioned at Safe Harbor Plymouth and they don’t do detailing. I’m not sure why, but I suspect it’s because it’s not worth the trouble!
Boat detailing, especially big boat (or yacht) detailing, is a special skill and unless it’s your specialty, it’s easy to make mistakes or just waste a lot of time you can’t bill for.
When Maritimo delivered Amazing Grace they sent up a crew from Florida to do a week of detailing.
In 2024, we ran into too much red tape to get her detailed in Onset, and by the time JDM Detailing got to her in Plymouth, it was June and pollen season.
John did a good job, but he’s based out of Safe Harbor Sakonnet in Rhode Island, and working in Plymouth involves a lot of travel time.
Last season I started searching in February and selected Sam and Dan, owners of Bayside Detailers.
They have just completed the second season detailing Amazing Grace and I can wholeheartedly endorse their work.
They do a great job and really go out of their way to care for our boat. After they finished, they recommended a summer maintenance cleaning process and soap products.
