My new favorite marina in Newport is Bowens. I love it because it’s right in the center of the action on the Newport Waterfront.
I also love the fact that you dock east-west which allows you to dock stern out and get a view of Newport Harbor without being blocked by mega yachts that require the deeper water.

We first docked and dined at Bowens in August of 2017. It was featured in a lengthy story about an ideal day that included a breaching whale, gunkholing, live music by The Rum Liners, dinner at 22 Bowens, and ending the evening making new friends on the aft deck of Vigilant – click here to read the full story.
Bowens 22 is an indoor restaurant with that feels like your Al Fresco on the docks.

Dining at 22 Bowens
This is a totally refined dining experience. You have the wind blowing throw the open glass doors, rich woodwork and an incredible menu.
Our service that night was excellent and provided by a young woman named Sharon.

22 Bowens has a first rate wine list and one thing I particularly like is that they offer high end wines by the glass. The night we were there is was Silver Oak. I’d love to tell you the price, but my friend Steve was buying and he wouldn’t say!
Now to the food — take a look at this menu:

They have every major cut from any first class chop shop in New York, Chicago, or Dallas, but they also upgrade each dish with gourmet extras like
All steaks and chops are served with your choice of one of the following accompaniments: Bearnaise | Bleu Cheese Butter | Bordelaise | 22B “Steakhouse” | Horseradish Cream | Cognac Cream | Porcini-Shallot Butter | Roasted Lemon Beurre Blanc | Hollandaise | Whole Grain Mustard Butter…
Mrs. Horne started with a Caesar…

Then we split the Porterhouse with Blue Cheese Butter.

Kay and Steve had Swordfish and the Filet Mignon…

If you’re in Newport and you or one of your guests is hankering for a big city steak you have to try 22 Bowens. And if the rest of your crew wants fresh local seafood, they’ll be very happy as well!
As much as I want to try out other restaurants in Newport, I think I’ll be back at 22 Bowens before the 4th of July.

NOTE: I’m a little short on photo’s so much of what you’ve seen here came from my friends on Yelp and Facebook

Thanks Ron – They’re such great boats. They seem to always perform as expected – rare in boats.
