I so love Cuttyhunk!
Mrs. Horne and I honeymooned there decades ago in my father’s 25’ Sailboat. Back then, there were actually two full-service restaurants on the island – The Allen House and The Bosworth House.
Both closed down before the turn of the century, and dining on Cuttyhunk has been hit or miss ever since.
Most visitors cook dinner on their boat as we do in our Cuttyhunk Progressive. That’s fine if you have a big boat with a galley, but Cuttyhunk attracts a lot of day trippers in smaller boats looking for lunch, or as we say Dock and Dine!
Lunch Options on Cuttyhunk
A couple of posts on the Cuttyhunk Chatter Facebook page motivated me to do an update on lunch options. Specifically, the 2023 Menu at the longstanding Cuttyhunk Lobster Shack

This is a big menu. You can grab lunch and take it back to your boat or sit down at a picnic table.
If that’s too much fried food, you take a short walk up the hill to the Grocery Store and order sandwiches.

Back on the dock, there is also the Raw Bar if you only want oysters, quahogs, or lobster.

The Cuttyhunk Cafe has also stepped up its menu and offers a respectable seaside lunch option with tables and chairs on the dock.

Breakfast on Cuttyhunk
The Cuttyhunk Cafe opens early for coffee, and last year I had an excellent breakfast sandwich.

But if you find yourself on Cuttyhunk on a Sunday morning, you must take a walk to the Cuttyhunk Fishing Club for the only sit-down dining experience on Cuttyhunk.

This place is so special that I did an entire report on it a few years ago (The Cuttyhunk Fishing Club Breakfast with Menu.)
UPDATE: I just received word that the Cuttyhunk Fishing Club will be serving breakfast every day beginning June 29.
Dinner Options on Cuttyhunk
At this point, I’m pretty much pivoting from Dock and Dine to Overnight Cruising. Although in June and July, I could easily see a 20’ Center Console running across Buzzards Bay at 5:00 PM and back home before dark.
The other post on the Cuttyhunk Chatter Facebook page that caught my eye was this post from William Stone.

I think this is an excellent addition to the culinary options on Cuttyhunk. I can imagine grazing between here, the Lobster Shack for some Onion Rings, and The Raw Bar for some Oysters!
REMEMBER!
Gosnold is a dry island, but that means everyone just walks around with their cocktail in hand!
Cuttyhunk is a CASH ECONOMY. Don’t expect anyone to accept plastic…
There are also a few other excellent dinner options on Cuttyhunk. Sopranos has been operating for years serving great pizza and a few other dining options.

A quick check of their social media pages shows their last post was in 2022. I’ll ask around and update this section when I know more.
UPDATE: I’m told Soprano’s will open Friday June 30!
The other fun venue is Scuttlebutt Grille, part of the Cuttyhunk Seafood Farm.

We had a great Saturday night there a few years back that included a Trivia Contest.
One more dining option that’s new to the island is the Cuttyhunk Picnic Company.

Don’t forget the chilled chardonnay 😎
And, of course, an excellent dining option if you’re on a boat is to order cooked lobster from the Shellfish Farm and “dine in.”

If you’re planning on visiting Cuttyhunk overnight, book your dockage on dockwa.com. A few years ago, I did a report on the Marina that included the slip map.

Great information Dave, thanks for sharing!
Wow! Thanks, great to know before we get there!!
